Local resturants are all given the opportunity to participate in Food and Wine each year. Unfortunately some feel that they are too busy at their restuarants to be able to also be at the signature event. Some seem to forget that they are busy because of Carnivale and the hard work that the Chamber and the individual organisers put in.

As for the restuarant that comes from out of town, Mossman is part of Carnivale as is the Daintree and the rest of our beautiful region. Just because a restaurant is not located in Port Douglas does not make its food any less delicious.

Food Wine and a taste of Port has always been part of Carnivale as those of us who live here know how lucky we are to have so man fantastic chefs in the area, as well as fresh local produces. Not to mention the local talent that gets to shine on stage.

Carnivale will always have those that will knock it - to those people I say criticize only if you are willing to get involved next year to help us improve it.

Ah yes, I meant the weekend of 29th-30th. The answer was very clearly no. No Carnivale special or any other special for this weekend.

Sun Palm Transport are not honouring the discount offer for the 2nd weekend, 28th May 2010. Very disappointing as that's 3 customers they've just lost.

The Chamber of Commerce does not actually manage this event, but we've been asking the question, don't worry. The problem is being addressed. Mostly it's misinformed gossip and conjecture amongst the restaurants. Small town, big gossip, difficult politics. But there are no problems, only solutions. Thanks for your comments Charlie.

I guess if I were running it......I'd be asking why local restaurants don't want to get involved? I don't know the answer but it's certainly something to think about....

Charlie, Food Wine and a Taste of Port has been a part of Carnivale since the very beginning, back in 1994.

Just because local restaurants weren't motivated to be involved in this vibrant successful traditional Carnivale event this year doesn't mean we should change the name. But don't worry, we are all concerned by the lack of Port Douglas restaurant participation this year. Disappointing indeed. But such GREAT restaurants did get involved and I can't wait to try all the great food on offer. This event is almost sold out now.
