The 2015 Carnivale celebrations at Port Douglas are gearing up to be a fantastic 21st anniversary party for the event, which started life over one long weekend as a way of marking the beginning of the sugar cane crushing season.
Carnivale is now a 10-day extravaganza of food and wine, sports, arts and musical festivals all rolled into one and held over the last two weeks in May.
Events in 2015 will include the Macrossan Street Parade, Jansz Longest Lunch, Family Beach Day and the exciting Yabusame Tournament, World Racing Cooler Championships and Backyard Games, Carnivale Golf Competition, the Avenue of the Arts with street performers and artists, Domaine Chandon Carnivale Lunch and Feast Port Douglas.
Carnivale is a time for celebration, a time to unwind, relax and soak up the ambience of our tropical seaside paradise. It is the ideal festival for families, for food and wine lovers, couples, sports enthusiasts, fans of grass roots music and the arts.
It is an event the whole region benefits from and one that brings the local community and visitors to the region together.
Port Douglas Carnivale has continued to grow over the years and has evolved into one of Australia’s leading festivals.
The 2014 event was spectacular but we believe the 2015 event will be even better.
We can’t wait to share it with you so come to Port Douglas for the weekend, a week or maybe the whole 10 days… everyday is a festival and you’re sure to love it.
