FNQ HEAT TO WARM UP FIELD IN PORT DOUGLAS
Port Douglas, 16th May, 2014 – Aquis FNQ Heat FC will tomorrow bring one of its NPL fixtures to Port Douglas.
Spokesperson for the Heat, David Craven-Griffths said the team was excited to play in Port Douglas and was expecting good attendance.
“The opportunity was presented to FNQ Heat to become involved in Port Douglas Carnivale and we jumped at the opportunity to showcase the players out in the region.
“It was also a fantastic opportunity for us to support the local football community, which is very strong in the Douglas region.
“It is very important to the Heat to get the message out there that there are a lot of very talented young footballers in the region and it is our intent foster that as much as we can”
Jamie Gosling, who is the striker at FNQ Heat, said the players would pull out all the stops in their NPL football match against the Western Pride tomorrow at 7.30pm.
“It is exciting for the game, and allows us to show the local people we can play some good football with the best standard outside of the A League.”
FNQ Heat FC represents Far North Queensland, in the National Premier League (NPL).
The NPL is an initiative of Football Federation Australia (FFA) to create a State-based elite club competition and youth development program to underpin the National A-League, W-League and National Youth League.
As part of FNQ Heat FC’s commitment to growing the game throughout the Far North, FNQ Heat FC actively looks for opportunities to take matches to regional centres.
FNQ Heat FC would like to thank Port Douglas Carnivale Management committee, Douglas Shire Council, Douglas United Football Club and Port Douglas AFL club for working with them to make this event happen.
