Rummage around for that tartan rug and wicker basket…Port Douglas Carnivale has a picnic to beat all picnics.
Plantation Picnic in the Park is a free family event with a line-up of stellar acts to entertain picnic goers in a relaxed al fresco setting.
The concert is a double act between Plantation Resort, which is renowned for supporting local music and gigs and Rockin’Rick Entertainment, whose principal Rick Moyer says the event will make excellent use of the stage set up for Saturday night’s massive Spiderbait performance.
“What a great way to finish Party in Paradise 2021. It will be a good ol’ family day with great music. It is free so everyone should feel welcome to come along.”
The line-up of talented local acts is headed by American/Australian blues supremos Lady Valiant and includes Seachange, Mereana Pohatu, Rueben Dwyer, Matthew Sayre, Yahdoh and The Note Thieves.
As the concert heads in the evening laser lights and smoke machines will add to the atmosphere.
Mr Moyer said the concert is dedicated to the community and having a family-friendly good time.
People can bring a picnic but there will be food sold on site. A bar will be provided by Plantation Resort so picknickers are asked not to bring their own alcohol.
Douglas Shire Mayor Michael Kerr said Picnic in the Park believed the event would be one of the most enjoyable for locals and families at Carnivale.
“This one is especially for the people of Port Douglas, Mossman and points in between. Grab a rug, the family and a picnic and enjoy the sights and sounds of Far North Queensland in concert.
“It’s a beautiful tropical setting and we have fantastic local talent to make it a day to remember.”
Plantation Picnic in the Park is on Sunday May 23 at Rex Smeal Park from 2pm to 8pm.
