SEAFOOD EXTRAVAGANZA CELEBRATING 20 YEARS WITH AN EXCITING NEW FORMAT
Port Douglas, 1st May, 2014 – Not only will there be the region’s tastiest and freshest seafood to enjoy, there will be an extra focus on families at this year’s Extravaganza at the Reef Marina on May 25.
Starting at 11am and going through to sunset, the event will make the most of the brand new, fully landscaped lawn area at the marina.
Event organiser Vicki Kurth of Managing Australian Destinations (MAD) said it was still the same Seafood Extravaganza that people have come to know and love, just better.
“The new lawn area at the marina will be utilised as the main entertainment area with lots of big umbrellas, Bali flags and a marquee, so there will be plenty of shade. People are being encouraged to bring along a picnic rug or their own fold up chairs”
Food stalls include On The Inlet, Lure, Marina View, Mocka’s, Santiago, Mojo’s, Otz and Sublime all with amazing and creative menus.
“There will be beer, wine, spirits and cocktails available while Santiago will be selling fresh prawns straight off the boat.
“There will also be a live oyster shucking station from Sublime and Wheelie Good Coffee to wash it all down,” she added.
There are also lots of activities for children organised with a jumping castle, jumbo slide, fairy floss machine, shaved ice booth and ice cream van. A kids corner inside the marina will have face painting, quoits and sand art display”
Not to be outdone, she said there was a great line up of entertainment for adults too, with three bands playing on top of the delicious fresh seafood that would be available all day on the boardwalk and at the marina’s restaurants.
“We have chosen three bands with all different genre’s that will appeal to different people.
“Bodies in Motion will perform a dance display, as well as lucky door prizes including accommodation, tours, and dinners up for grabs.”
